Initial board approval for study on Nov. 19 school board meeting. The purpose of Phase 1 is to study a possible realignment of non-contiguous areas currently included in the boundary for Sunburst Elementary School. Earliest possible implementation in Fall 2025.

This notice is to inform about proposed boundary changes to the school boundaries for Sand Springs and Sunburst elementary schools for the 2025-2026 academic year. These boundary changes are being considered to address several important issues and we value your input in this process.

Need for proposed changes:

• Overcrowding at Sunburst Elementary: Sunburst is currently experiencing overcrowding, which impacts the ability to provide space for crucial programs.

• Declining Enrollment at Sand Springs Elementary: Sand Springs has seen a decline in student numbers, and the proposed boundary changes aim to increase enrollment at this school.

Proposed changes: Students in the highlighted area on the maps will have the boundary changed to switch schools from Sunburst Elementary to attend Sand Springs Elementary beginning the 2025-2026 school year.

Time: 6 PM
Location: Davis School District Auditorium, 45 East State Street, Farmington

The public hearing will be held during the Davis School District Board of Education meeting. This will be another opportunity for community members to voice their opinions and concerns.
