The 2024 Davis Book Battles were a resounding success, promoting the joy of reading among students of all reading levels. The competition sparked enthusiasm and encouraged students to explore new literary adventures.
Supported by dedicated parents and teachers, the Davis Book Battles not only inspired a love for reading but also fostered teamwork, critical thinking and essential literacy skills. The program has grown to include over 25 schools. It owes its success to the tireless efforts of elementary librarians and volunteers.
Librarians went above and beyond, organizing lessons, activities and quiz practice sessions to prepare students for the Book Battle events. One of the main challenges faced was securing funding for extra copies of books, prizes and reading incentives, all crucial elements in making the program engaging and rewarding for students.
Each year, librarians carefully curated reading lists tailored to students' interests, reading levels and diverse genres. This thoughtful selection ensured that every student could find something captivating to read and explore.
Thank you to everyone who supported and participated in the Davis Book Battles, contributing to a vibrant culture of reading and learning in our schools.
