A new school year brings a new school to the fastest growing area in Davis County.
Davis School District officially opened the doors of Island View Elementary recently with a ribbon cutting and back to school night. Community members were invited to tour the new school while students interacted with their teachers and classmates. Island View promises to bring a unique blend of academic excellence and community spirit to the 800 kindergarten through sixth grade students who will attend the school.
“With everyone being new, it gives everyone a little anxiety, and I think bringing these kiddos in and helping them see their classroom, and classmates and meet their teacher hopefully makes this school feel like it’s theirs,” Principal Scott Richardson said. “It’s not just a new building, this is our school. Bringing them in helps build a culture that this is the community’s school.”
Island View’s mascot is a pelican, encouraging every child to spread their wings and fly. The school is located at 385 S. 4500 W. in West Point.
