DSD wining 2024 Utah AEE Energy Champion for Education Organizations award

Davis School District has been recognized as the 2024 Utah AEE Energy Champion for Education Organizations; a prestigious award presented by the Utah Association of Energy Engineers (AEE). The district’s commitment to energy management and its leadership in sustainable practices made it a standout among both K-12 and higher education institutions across Utah.

“For over a decade, Davis School District has consistently been a leader in implementing common-sense, financially sound energy management practices in its schools,” said a statement from AEE. “From new zero-energy buildings to retrofitting mechanical and controls systems, improving weatherization and recommissioning facilities, Davis remains focused on enhancing efficiency and delivering savings to their community.”

A key to the district's success has been its investment in net-zero energy construction, with seven zero-energy elementary schools built to date. The district has also embraced cutting-edge technologies, including geothermal fields and ground-source heat pumps, to further enhance energy efficiency.

The district’s energy management efforts have not only reduced its environmental impact but also provided significant financial savings to the community. “Davis School District has been a local leader for innovative technologies,” AEE’s statement added. “Their commitment to sharing knowledge and lessons learned has been invaluable to the broader energy community.”
