Construction updates

This video provides an exciting construction update on three major projects in the Davis School District, made possible by the generous support of our community. Thanks to the 2022 Building Generations Bond approved by Davis County voters, we're creating state-of-the-art educational facilities that will serve students for generations to come. These updates highlight unique features and innovative designs at Junior High 18 in West Point, Sunset Junior High and Bountiful Elementary, all aimed at enhancing the learning environment and ensuring energy efficiency. Here are some of the standout features of each school: 

Junior High 18 (West Point) 

  • Three-Story Classroom Wing

    : Spacious, bright classrooms designed to maximize natural light, creating an inspiring learning environment. 

  • Soaring Commons Area

    : A three-story open space that includes a cafeteria with a performing stage, bringing in abundant natural light. 

  • Large Gymnasium

    : Partnership with West Point City to include four full-size basketball courts, an indoor running track, and an artificial turf field for football, soccer, and lacrosse. 

  • Spectacular Views

    : Panoramic views from the third floor, offering students a beautiful outlook. 

  • Energy Efficiency

    : Utilizes a ground source heat exchange system to naturally heat and cool the building. 

  • Solar Power

    : Solar panels generate more electricity than the school consumes. 

  • Scheduled Opening

    : Expected to be ready for students by August 2025. 

Sunset Junior High (Rebuild) 

  • Prototype Plan with Unique Design

    : Uses the same design as Junior High 18 but adapted to fit within a compact site by creatively positioning the new building on existing playfields. 

  • Natural Daylight Integration

    : Designed to optimize daylight usage, enhancing the indoor environment. 

  • Sunset-Inspired Aesthetics

    : Exterior design draws inspiration from sunset colors, with a brick pattern that transitions from darker to lighter shades. 

  • Energy Efficient Systems

    : Equipped with a ground source heat exchange system and solar panels, making it highly energy efficient. 

  • Construction Phases

    : New building to be completed by June 2025, with full operation beginning in August 2025 after the old building is demolished and replaced with new playfields. 

Bountiful Elementary (Rebuild) 

  • State-of-the-Art Classrooms

    : Includes modern, two-story classroom spaces filled with natural light. 

  • Flexible Learning Spaces

    : Features garage doors in classrooms that open to collaboration areas, promoting flexible learning environments. 

  • Unique Design Motif

    : The design incorporates the curves of the letter 'B' throughout the building's architecture, adding a distinctive visual theme. 

  • Sustainable Features

    : Equipped with solar panels and a ground source heat exchange system, producing more energy than consumed. 

  • Phased Construction

    : The new school will be ready for the 2025-2026 school year, with final work on playfields extending beyond August 2025.
