Reading took center stage at the Utah State Capitol today as students from across Utah gathered for the first statewide Utah Reads Read-A-Thon.

Their hard work gave students the opportunity to celebrate their love of reading alongside other young readers from across the state.

The event was part of a statewide effort to encourage students, families and communities to make time for reading. More than 275,000 students and adults were expected to participate in the Utah Reads Read-A-Thon through schools, libraries, businesses and organizations across the state.

For Clinton and Oak Hills students, the day was a celebration of the work they have already put into reading. Building strong literacy skills helps students develop knowledge, vocabulary and comprehension while opening the door to learning across every subject.
