OBJECTIVES:

  • The Title l grant program promotes school-wide reform in high-poverty schools and ensure students' access to scientifically based strategies and challenging academic content.

  • The Title l grant program provides a system to hold states, school districts, and schools accountable for improving the academic achievement of all students and turning around low-performing schools, while providing alternatives to students in such schools to enable those students to receive a high-quality education.

  • The Title l grant program supplements District and State funds. All services students would receive in the absence of Title l must be in place before Title l funds are used.

Title l supports school efforts to ensure:

  • All children meet challenging academic standards.

  • All children have a fair, equal, and significant opportunity to obtain a high-quality education.

  • Additional resources for high poverty schools are offered to enhance educational opportunities for disadvantaged students.

Title l provides flexible funding that may be used for:

  • Additional instructional staff

  • Professional development

  • Extended-time programs

  • Family and Community engagement strategies

  • Other strategies for raising student achievement in high-poverty school
