Groundbreaking Ceremony New Elementary #2 image of ceremony

The Davis School District celebrated a major milestone with the groundbreaking of a new elementary school in Syracuse, an event that featured an exciting first for local students: the chance to turn dirt with their own shovels, symbolizing their role in this significant community project.

The ceremony was a memorable experience for students, who donned helmets, bright safety vests, and gripped shiny shovels to help kick off the construction.

Designed by VCBO Architecture and managed by Hughes General Contractors, this new elementary school is set to feature approximately 32 classrooms and a multi-purpose room, providing ample learning space for young minds.

In addition to the school itself, Syracuse City is collaborating with the school district to create a public park on adjacent land, further enhancing the community feel and accessibility of the area.

“Elementary schools are the grassroots of a community,” Hughes General Contractors Project Manager Sam Grange said. “This school represents a place where students can learn and grow, surrounded by friends and neighbors.”

As the Davis School District continues to invest in quality education, this new school stands as a reminder of the community’s commitment to learning and its dedication to building spaces where children feel excited and supported.
