It's summer and it's Picture Day in Davis School District.

🐾 Introducing our #SummerSidekick spotlight: Kim VanLeuven, Librarian at Adams Elementary.
Kim shares "Our family has a history of adopting homeless dogs, which added to our craziness. When the day of grace came to send our pups running through a field of heavenly flowers, we swore with broken hearts to never find a furry friend again. Suddenly the children fly from the nest, which is what we taught them to do, and life is filled with silent motionless spaces.
But then a friend says, 'Our pup had puppies, and you should see the runt. She has a white furry heart on her chest and a wishbone on her neck.' Now we find ourselves in love again with four paws, a wet nose and an obsession with a ball. It's amazing how one bossy soul can fill up a home again." 🐾
🎾 Thank you for sharing your story, Kim.

Out with the old, in with the new. The sod at Clearfield and Davis high schools has been removed and the fields are getting prepped for new turf.
The two schools are centrally located in Davis School District. Their football fields see a lot of play, and with the sod being more than a decade old, administrators could tell it was time for a change. Both fields are scheduled to be completed by the end of July, just in time for the kickoff of the 2024 football season.
Tracks surrounding the fields are also getting a facelift. The old polyurethane/rubber layer are being replaced with a new surface to help the next generation of track stars break new records.

🇺🇸 Happy 4th of July!
Today we remember and honor those who courageously secured our freedoms.
Enjoy the fireworks, BBQs and time with loved ones.

The Davis School District Transportation Department provided crucial shuttle services for the "Warriors over the Wasatch" event, ensuring seamless transportation for attendees across multiple venues including Northridge High School and Weber State University’s Davis campus.
Approximately 50 drivers and buses contributed over 600 man-hours, completing 825 shuttle runs and covering 2,900 miles throughout the weekend.
This event marks a significant and unique collaboration between state and federal organizations curated by Superintendent Linford, Business Manager Craig Carter and former Transportation Director Shawna Cragun.
